Sharing a printer on wireless network - problems!
I just installed these new Windows XP drivers on my Presario 1800 with the D-Link DWL-650 card, but it doesn't seem to work. Windows XP computers on wireless network lose login credentials
I am trying to set up an ad-hoc wireless network between two computers; one runing Windows XP and the other Linux (2.6.x, Slackware). After I have set them up I cannot ping the Linux machine It works fine when in "managed" mode (connecting to an access-point); I'm using the latest firmware/drivers I could find.

After research, it depends upon the type of wireless NIC and the driver supplied. Some can do as you suggest, other's can't. I wonder how you find out which ones do before you buy? I would guess you are not unique in your requirements so just asking in a well attended networking forum/group will help a great deal.

Wireless PCMCIA cards for OS/2
... I don't know the kernelversion of RedHat Fedora, but it is in the "distribution list" so I guess it will work, right? Following some of the links on the 'distributions' page suggests that some distros actually have the driver built into the kernel by default. There is no info on Fedora, but you may be lucky :-/

Wireless Drivers - confusion.
The laptop is an HP dv6755ca, less then one week old, and has been checked to be sure all drivers and updates have been installed. I have run anti-virus and checked for malware/spyware. The network setup is 1. PC connected via ethernet, 1. wireless laptop and 1. smc8014w-g wireless gateway.

You have to have networking drivers for the card to make it work basically. These may come as part of the pcmcia source package itself or as a downloadable BTW, my main reason for building the PC access point and later getting the orinoco residential gateway was to share my dsl line with a wireless network.

They worked for a week or so and then stopped working, however nothing was changed on the network. 3Com claims it's not the access points and that it is Vista. We have contacted our wireless vendor and they said it is an issue with Vista or a driver. On older cards (Intel 2200ABG) it works just fine.

other time's it connects OK. This started occurring only about one month ago. I uninstalled the network card driver, and rebooted, but that didn't solve the problem.
